Great team. Quick to respond to any questions.
The home buying process with smoothly. Veterans United has a great team working with me. I was a first time home buyer and the team was there to answer my questions and concerns.
I had a great experience working with the lending team throughout my home buying process. They did an excellent job keeping me informed every step of the way and made what can be a stressful process feel smooth and manageable. Ryan, in particular, stood out—he took the time to ensure I fully understood everything from start to finish, answering questions and providing clarity whenever needed. I truly appreciated the professionalism, communication, and support from the entire team.
My wife and I would like to convey (we learned that word from our real estate dealings, lol) our deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of the Veteran's United Team!!!Our journey began with Smith Gaddy on May 23rd. This being our first home ever (yes, at our age...), we did not know what to do or expect. We were guided by you all every step of the way. Our concierge (Casie) got us connected and on track for this process. She also hooked us up with our realtor. Tyler (our loan officer) got involved immediately and worked on our preapproval. Every step was detailed and explained in ways we could understand. The patience, understanding, and commitment was/is so amazing. Cara kept us on track for the underwriter and Jimmy kept the ball rolling in the same efficient manner when Cara was not available. Alicia got our Homeowners insurance in line and patiently kept making necessary changes as we needed them. We successfully closed on July 25th, 2022!Tyler (our loan officer) has gone out of his way to make our dream come true. He helped us overcome obstacles which could have destroyed our dream from becoming a reality. We will never forget him or his team!We tell you all this so you can get an idea from the buyers/our perspective. You all never lost sight of why you are doing this.I am a Vietnam Veteran who has had a difficult trip through life. I never would have dreamed this possible. More importantly, my wife gets the one thing in this life that she has always dreamed of. Thank you for what you have done for us! Remember that you all hold the ability to fulfill a void in a veteran and his family's life. It makes a HUGE difference and again we will be forever grateful to you all. Thank you!!!
Wyatt was very easy to work with and he responded to all of our needs immediately. He made the home buying experience flawless.
We were asked to furnish documents 4 times. The whole process was abusive. We closed the loan and the next day we paid it off. We will not ever use them again.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Steven,
I’m really sorry to hear how frustrating and exhausting this process felt for you. I can understand how being asked for documents multiple times would make the experience feel stressful, especially during something as important as closing on a home loan. That’s not the kind of experience I want anyone to walk away with.
While there are times additional documentation is needed throughout underwriting, I understand that repeated requests can feel overwhelming and disappointing. I also regret that we left you feeling unsupported enough to pay off the loan immediately after closing.
I’d appreciate the opportunity to learn more about what happened and review your experience further. If you’re open to it, please reach out to me directly at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. The Client Advocate team is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, and messages received after hours are typically returned the next business day.
Sincerely,
Claire S., Client Relations Manager
Everyone was very helpful. I called very often with lots of questions and they always seemed like they were glad to hear from me.
The people at Veterans United were extremely kind and helpful. They were also punctual and stayed on top of things. However, we genuinely feel misled in several ways. The loan officer set us up for failure in a couple of areas, and when I expressed frustration over the misunderstanding, he became very defensive and belittling.
Response from Veterans United

Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m glad to hear the team was kind, helpful, and stayed on top of things throughout the process. At the same time, I’m sorry to hear there were misunderstandings that left you feeling misled and unsupported. The whole team was great from start to finish and Derek was really great in giving me some solid advice about bettering my credit. Overall I had a really good experience in purchasing a home with Veterans United.
Brice was amazing! Any questions, doubts, concerns I had he was right there to help me through it and reassured me. My process was difficult but Brice made it bearable! Super thankful for him and the rest of the team!
Mostly I appreciated the transparency and honesty I was given. 10/10 would recommend
The team worked hard to meet a deadline.
Everything was a complete lack of professionalism from the get go. The realtor was rude and negotiated in bad faith which really made us lose all trust in her. We also were threatened with repercussions when we said we wanted to terminate the wentire deal due to being treated like shit through the whole process. The lender told me I was full of shit when I told him rates had been dropping for almost a month but our rate remained the same. We were promised a rate break for using their shitty realtor. That didn’t happen. I sent screen shots of the rate drops and never a peep. He also told me that he would just call my wife instead of me because he has no spine and is a coward to not be able to talk to the man. We were treated as second rate and bullied and threatened into continuing with them “or else”. DO MOT RECOMMEND. I will make sure on every veteran page and post that you are not recommended. Good job taking advantage of vets.

Hey Nicholas,
I’m very sorry to hear how frustrated and disrespected you felt throughout your experience. Buying a home should never leave someone feeling pressured, dismissed, or unheard, and I can understand why this process damaged your trust. Your concerns about communication, professionalism, and how you were treated are serious, and I appreciate you taking the time to share them.
At Veterans United, we want every borrower to feel supported and respected throughout the process, and I’m sorry this experience did not reflect that. I would appreciate the opportunity to learn more about what happened and review your concerns further with the appropriate teams.
