Amazing team work!
Predatory pricing practices and extremely poor communication throughout the loan process.I made it clear to my loan officer multiple times that I did not want points and that any remaining lender credit should instead be applied toward reducing a car loan obligation. Despite those instructions, the credit was used for a rate buy-down against my wishes. This was addressed so late in the process that it was presented as though there was no realistic opportunity to correct it before closing.Another major issue was our rate lock expiration, which resulted from an unavoidable probate delay after one of the sellers unexpectedly passed away. This circumstance was entirely outside of our control, yet Veterans United refused to reasonably accommodate or waive the rate lock extension despite the extenuating circumstances.Communication throughout the transaction was consistently frustrating. I repeatedly had to follow up for updates, ask for explanations when issues arose, and push for clarity regarding my own loan file. Instead of being proactively guided through the process, I often felt left in the dark until I persistently checked in myself.Much of this frustration could have been avoided with proper communication, transparency, and timely explanations. Instead, we lost thousands of dollars at closing and were forced to advocate for ourselves at nearly every stage of the transaction. This was my second loan with Veterans United, and after this experience, I would not use them again. Unfortunately, I would strongly encourage other veterans and military families to carefully consider alternative lenders.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Ty,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I’m truly sorry to hear about the frustration you encountered throughout your loan process, especially after previously working with us. It’s clear this experience did not meet the level of communication, transparency, and support you expected or deserved.
I understand how upsetting it must have been to feel that your preferences regarding lender credits and discount points were not honored. Conversations surrounding rate buydowns and loan structure should always be clear, and I’m sorry you felt those concerns were not properly addressed before closing.
I’m also sorry for the added stress surrounding the rate lock extension during an already difficult situation involving the seller’s probate delay. Communication is one of the most important parts of the homebuying process, and it’s concerning to hear that you felt left to manage updates and seek clarity on your own rather than being proactively guided through the process.
We appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention. Feedback like yours helps us identify opportunities to improve both our communication and overall client experience. If you’re open to discussing your experience further, we would encourage you to reconnect with our Client Advocate team at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com.
Sincerely,
Claire S., Client Relations Manager
Second time buying a home. Shopped around for a mortgage and still came back to VU. If there is a third, I’ll just go straight to Jon.
Bailey, Scott, Annie, and Sierra all did a great job and were very helpful during the whole process. Made it very easy
Craig and his team were awesome! Always ready to help and quick to respond. Even evening hours.
Derek H. and his team were outstanding. Their attention to detail and diligent work ethic got me to the closing table. Thanks to Jamie for guiding me in the right direction to bring up my credit scores so that I could successfully qualify for my mortgage. Rae kept on top of my to do list keeping me informed on what was needed next.Great job to all of you! Melisa and I are happy that we chose Veterans United for our VA loan.Vernon Ramassar
I was treated with the utmost respect and courtesy. Holly is AWESOME!!!!!
Very knowledgeable staff, ready to assist in every step of the process, including researching utility companies movers even assisting with change of address. No surprises, I knew exactly what to expect. Would highly recommend.
I’m impressed with VU’s outstanding ability to coordinate practically everything. I loved that the had everything there, it was an amazing process.
My wife and I would like to convey (we learned that word from our real estate dealings, lol) our deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of the Veteran's United Team!!!Our journey began with Smith Gaddy on May 23rd. This being our first home ever (yes, at our age...), we did not know what to do or expect. We were guided by you all every step of the way. Our concierge (Casie) got us connected and on track for this process. She also hooked us up with our realtor. Tyler (our loan officer) got involved immediately and worked on our preapproval. Every step was detailed and explained in ways we could understand. The patience, understanding, and commitment was/is so amazing. Cara kept us on track for the underwriter and Jimmy kept the ball rolling in the same efficient manner when Cara was not available. Alicia got our Homeowners insurance in line and patiently kept making necessary changes as we needed them. We successfully closed on July 25th, 2022!Tyler (our loan officer) has gone out of his way to make our dream come true. He helped us overcome obstacles which could have destroyed our dream from becoming a reality. We will never forget him or his team!We tell you all this so you can get an idea from the buyers/our perspective. You all never lost sight of why you are doing this.I am a Vietnam Veteran who has had a difficult trip through life. I never would have dreamed this possible. More importantly, my wife gets the one thing in this life that she has always dreamed of. Thank you for what you have done for us! Remember that you all hold the ability to fulfill a void in a veteran and his family's life. It makes a HUGE difference and again we will be forever grateful to you all. Thank you!!!
Wouldn’t recommend already filled the complaint about loan officer
Response from Veterans United
Hey Jondalar,
I'm sorry to hear that your experience left you feeling this way. I understand how frustrating it can be when concerns about your loan experience lead to a formal complaint, especially when you don't feel the issues were resolved to your satisfaction.
I appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. While I understand you've already spoken with members of our Client Advocate team, feedback like yours is important and helps us better understand where we may have fallen short of the experience we aim to provide.
Thank you again for sharing your perspective. We wish you the very best moving forward.
Sincerely,
Claire S., Client Relations Manager

Best customer service. United Veterans is very efficient in mortgage financing. Everything was done in a very timely manner. The process allow you to be ready to close weeks before the closing date, if you provide your supporting documents in a timer manner to the loan processors.
