We started our process for buying a house in November and VU promptly helped reached out to us to let us know we were pre-approved! That is where I first met Ken. First off Ken was nothing but phenomenal. That man was always answering my questions even on his days off. Ken was always available for anything I had questions about always prompt and giving the best information. 100% would recommend VU and Ken as everyone has been super helpful.

Matt & his team Logan & Alex went above & beyond! They were able to close on my new home 7 days earlier, in time for movers to get me in before holiday weekend! They were in constant communication via text, email, & phone conversations! Answered all of my questions & were very knowledgeable in their work! Thank you all so much for making this so streamlined with your To do lists! Anytime I had a question I would get my answer directly! Thank you again & enjoy your holiday weekend!

Veterans United truly lived up to their reputation. From start to finish, the process was well-organized, transparent, and veteran-focused. Buying a home can be stressful, especially when juggling timelines, disclosures, and last-minute changes, but my loan officer stayed engaged, responsive, and professional the entire way. What stood out most was the communication. Every question was answered clearly, expectations were set early, and when issues came up, solutions were presented—not excuses. Even when federal timing requirements affected the closing schedule, the team worked proactively to minimize impact and keep everything moving forward, including lender credits to ensure a smooth closing. As a Veteran, you want to work with people who understand VA loans inside and out and who genuinely advocate for you. Veterans United and my loan officer did exactly that. I felt supported, respected, and confident throughout the process.I would absolutely recommend Veterans United to any Veteran looking for a smooth, honest, and professional home-buying experience.

Robert Keeley was also very good. He was very patient with all of the communications and all of the checklist processes. His was diligent in making sure all my information got to the underwriters and helped me understand exactly what they were asking of me. I am thankful for my whole team, to include Laura who stepped in and kept the process moving seamlessly when needed. I never felt like anyone dropped the ball or forgot about me. It truly was a person-centric experience and I look forward with working with the same team when it comes to buying my dream home.

I have been trying to get Veterans United to recognize Disabled Veterans for property Tax purposes Ryley doesnt seem to understand that in the state of New Mexico they signed in there constitution Disabled veterans are exempt based on there percentage of disability they get that percentage off of there property tax. Example Im 80% disabled so I get 80% off my property tax. I have certification from the VA of that exemption and have uploaded to the VU's portal plus a 10,000 property tax exemption. I have filed these exemptions with the Valencia County Tax Assessors office. But the property tax is still on my loan documents. Fidelity Escrow here in New Mexico knows about this tax exemption but cannot do anything it until VU fixes loan documents.

Response from Veterans United

Hi Stephen,

First, I want to thank you for your service. I’m truly sorry for the frustration this situation has caused.

I can understand how upsetting it must be to have submitted your VA disability documentation and county exemption paperwork, yet still see property taxes reflected in your loan documents. When you’ve taken the proper steps with the VA and the county assessor, you should feel confident the information is being handled correctly.

Property tax exemptions, especially those tied to disability ratings, can involve coordination between the county, escrow, and loan servicing, but that does not make it any less frustrating when things do not appear to reflect what you’ve already provided. I’m sorry this has felt like an ongoing battle.

I would really like the opportunity to personally review your file and better understand what’s happening with the documentation and escrow setup. Please reach out to me directly at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. The Client Advocate team is available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday. If you contact us outside those hours, we’ll typically respond the next business day.

You’ve done your part, and you deserve clear answers. I appreciate you bringing this forward and would welcome the chance to help get clarity around it.

Sincerely,
Claire S., Client Relations Manager
