The pre-approval process and ability to generate customized letters was great, and won me over (I had other pre-approvals too.) The issue I had with VU was the tone deafness of the underwriters, who wanted gift letters from my spouse for her portion of the down payment cash and money we moved between our individual bank accounts, which is how we pay our bills. I got tired of trying to explain this, and just added her to the loan.
