I recommend that Veteran home buyers use Veterans United because as a Veteran we know how red tape can be a hindrance, we know the term "hurry up and wait". Well, Veterans United process is steady and sure, they know the ins and outs of the home buying process which translates to me as "trust".

I’ve purchased many homes in my lifetime and none was as easily accomplished despite this one being the most complex and most expensive over those 50 plus years since I purchased my first home. The process at Veterans United is extremely simple. Couple that with very knowledgeable and personable loan specialists and we moved through the myriad of hoops of a VA loan with very little angst and drama. And in the end, we came away with a fantastic home that cost a lot less than we had expected. The Veterans United software and process was great, but their people were superb. This is a “no brained” if I have ever seen one.

Unfortunately, my experience was not pleasant for the following reasons:
-Even though all household income was uploaded in the portal since June 2020 (9 months before we closed) 20K was not accounted for and it was overlooked until we realized it and brought it up to the Loan specialist's attention a month prior to closing which caused unnecessary stress.
-Communication between sales agent, title company, and Loan Specialist was extremely poor. I needed to keep everyone informed.
-Appraisal came valuing the home for 390K (10-20K undervalued) on a NEW CONSTRUCTION HOME when the two houses next to mine have comps of over 430K.They said the change orders were not considered and sent last minute ( a week prior to closing) and there is proof that this information is not accurate.According Viera builders closing coordinator (2021) the 3 change orders to the original contract were sent to the loan specialist:
"Change Order 1 was sent on 6/22/2020
Change Order 2 was sent on 7/10/2020
Change Order 3 was sent on 9/8/2020"For these reasons, I would not recommend Veterans United Home Loans. All parties involved including my very experienced and well-known realtor will not recommend as well.

Using VU for buying our first home was pretty much painless. They even matched the interest rate of the local bank. Remote closing was almost painless, except for a minor error on the part of the closing specialist causing us to have to re-sign our closing paperwork.
