Rate ended up being higher than it could have been due to lack of communication. When I first started the process rates were in flux and ended up going down during that time. I proceeded with VU under the assumption that I could buy a point to get the rate I wanted. I didn't learn until a few days from closing that the VA wouldn't fund it with the point. If I had known sooner I could have shopped around a bit more. I also had a lower offer in writing that I was told VU would match. Turned out to not be the case.
