Seemed to be too many hoops to jump through when we are a well qualified buyer with top credit scores. Requests to get Retirement Orders, A signed letter from a Commander (in this case a General) and the Retirement pay calculator was redundant and very demeaning. Especially when we could just purchase the property with cash and our $1.6 million in investments were not even taken into account. This was after our loan officer said the letter from the commander wouldn’t be required.

Response from Veterans United

Hi Stephen,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I can understand why this process felt frustrating, especially when additional documentation was requested after you were told certain items might not be needed. Receiving conflicting information and being asked for multiple documents can make an already stressful process feel unnecessarily difficult.

I'm sorry that your experience left you feeling discouraged and disrespected. While documentation requirements can sometimes change as a loan moves through the review process, it's important that expectations are communicated clearly and consistently along the way. It sounds like we fell short of providing that clarity in your case.

I'd appreciate the opportunity to learn more about what happened and review your concerns in greater detail. If you're willing, please contact our Client Advocate team at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com so I can look into your experience further.

The Client Advocate team is available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday. If you reach out outside those hours, we can typically respond the next business day.

Sincerely,
Claire S., Client Relations Manager
