I do not know who this would fall under, but the cash to close information I was provided was incorrect. I had to call and verify the correct information while standing in line at the bank. For awareness, I was originally told by Marlon to gain a Cashier's Check. My Realtor, Corey, did not provide me any information about closing. When I called to verify who I had to make payable, I was told they do not accept Cashiers Check and only wires. This took an additional two hours at the bank for which I had not planned. An inconvenience, but not the end of the world.
Working with VU made buying a home feel easy. As first time home buyers, we were very nervous and expecting the process to be rigorous. However, it was none of those things. Our loan team was very helpful for every step. Our loan officer, Reed, even came to do our final walk through, hand delivered a house warming gift, and came to the titling company for closing.
The Underwriting needs work. They should make their process more effective. When they “ask” for something they need to provide “accurate” descriptions and examples or other mediums to prevent the back and forth BS. If they are asking for a specific format for something, they need to provide a template especially if it is a document from JAG.
The need to provide a comprehensive list of educational document templates from a worst case scenario and reference the page number when asking for something outside of common banking reports.
The Underwriters are a customer “Fail”. I can see why they hide their names and contact information.

I seldom write reviews - but Veterans United deserves the hype. I had a terrible home-buying experience when I bought my first house (with another lender). Everything that could've gone wrong did, and it was an overwhelming (and traumatizing) experience. After being relocated for work, my husband and I looked at buying a house, and I expressed to him how much I loathed the process. I did some Googling, and Veterans United looked like an approachable company. Hanna worked with me, listened to my concerns, showed empathy, and constantly reassured me that everything would work out. She, Madison, and the rest of the team communicated with me on a near-daily basis, kept a checklist on the portal for me to follow, and assisted me with any issues within 24 hours (often in less than 2 hours).My case was particularly complicated because I had previously filed bankruptcy, had discrepancies on my credit report, and all sorts of fun stuff. Everyone, especially Hanna, was extremely patient with my case and worked diligently to get the best outcome. I never saw myself owning a house again; closing was an incredible feeling.It sounds corny, but Veterans United feels like family, and I will forever be grateful for their help. I cannot praise Hanna enough; she's the real MVP.
Matthew Perona, Nichole Whatley, and Benjamin Tubbs were fantastic! They did a great job. I was very leery after my last home buying experience, needless to say… it was smooth sailing. I cannot thank each and everyone of them enough!
I am officially a homeowner, thanks to the hard work and devotion of my team. Ron, Heather, MacKenzie and Alice were amazing. I could not have asked for a better group of people to go on this journey. Everyone displayed a high level of expertise in their position on the team. They would refer you to the proper person if a question was not in their field. I know they put in countless time and effort to make it happen for me. I am overjoyed.
