Thank you for helping me get the house.
Annie and Cole were great. They work so hard to get us over the hurdles that came up during our refinance.
What can i say? You all made things so easy on me and pushed for what I needed to close with the limited time frame, I mean this was by far the best home purchase i ever had! Thank you all so much.
Everything from the beginning was fabulous. All the way up to the email saying we were cleared to close. Up to that point, phenomenal assistance. Very transparent. For us, things fell apart at underwriting. Ended up closing 2 days late because underwriting wanted repairs completed before closing instead of an allowance that had previously been negotiated. Do not send “ready to close” email if you are not. Not sure if it went to underwriter late due to holiday. Then they would not accept original receipt after repairs were made. Wasted more time getting different invoice from office. Frustrating to waste 2 hours sitting around for a close to not happen in a lawyers office, only to be up in the air for 48 hours. We lucked out that previous owners did not require us to rent house back but additional paperwork had to be drawn up for us to stay in house until close.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Jon,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
I'm really sorry to hear about your experience during the final stages of your homebuying process. It's great to hear that everything started off fabulously and that you found the initial assistance and transparency to be phenomenal. However, I understand how frustrating and stressful it can be when things fall apart at underwriting, especially after receiving a "cleared to close" email.
The delays and issues with the repairs and receipts must have been incredibly inconvenient. I'm glad the previous owners were understanding, but the additional paperwork and uncertainty shouldn't have been part of your experience. We're committed to learning from this and improving our processes to provide a better experience for our clients in the future.
I want to look into what happened and make sure we address these issues properly. Could you please reach out to me directly at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com? We're in the office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST Monday through Friday, but feel free to contact us anytime.
At the beginning it was a difficult time, mainly communication but once we got past that phase, working with Derek was nothing short of productive, informative and professionalism. Only minor issue was at closing. We were told to purchase Flood insurance, which we did and had to pay the yearly fee. At closing I discovered flood insurance tacked onto our monthly mortgage. In the end, we were told we would be reimbursed for the entire amount we paid out of pocket and the flood insurance payments will remain as part of our monthly mortgage payment, we already paid which could have been deducted, but instead we now have to pay each month for flood insurance, that sequence of event didn’t make sense but overall we are happy to owning a home .!
