After a poor experience with a large VA lender, we had originally decided to not move forward with buying a new home. However, we decided to research online and saw that the best ratings were for Veterans United, a company we had not heard of before then. The difference in our experience with Veterans United was night and day. Everyone here was knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and the process was streamlined and efficient. The website is super user-friendly, submitting documents was very easy, and it didn't feel like we were being talked out of our purchase along the way, like has happened with other lenders. Veterans United seemed genuinely happy we had chose them, and overall we would highly recommend this company for any veteran looking to buy a home.
The level of care, attention to detail, and professionalism demonstrated by Tony and team far surpassed my expectations. As a first-time home buyer, I really appreciated Tony’s honesty and transparency throughout the mortgage process. He and his team stayed on top of every detail and were there for me every step of the way to answer any questions and address any concerns. I highly recommend Veterans United and Tony Stephenson.
I rated this organization overall 5-6/10 and the loan officer I worked with a 6-7/10. The communication is convenient with text, email, and call options. The team is knowledgeable and helpful. At the start of my process I felt I could always ask what I needed and have someone take the time to help me.
My concerns lie in the communication of the team. Many times I was asked for paperwork that I had already submitted. If I called one person to ask a question based on the information someone else in had team stated, they had no clue what I was talking about.
I felt disappointed that I could not search my own VA approved appraiser but I was able to use my own water testing company and pest inspector. Cost was a factor for me so if I had the option to shop prices I would have felt better about that.
I felt like attention to my loan fell off after the underwriter approved. I did not receive a call to go over what to expect at signing or what I would be seeing.
Overall I would say this company is strong in knowledge and individuals who are motivated to get a loan for you. On the downside communication on the team is lacking and there may be a lack of support following underwriter approval.
