We have worked with Veterans United for a refinance and two home purchases, and have had a great experience every time!
Joe Choi and his staff of David and Ashlyn were wonderful. I have used Joe for 4 different home loans, and he has impressed me each time. He is a large reason why I continue to come back to Veteran's United for my home loan needs. The underwriter however, was less than ideal. There were a number of unusual and unnecessary personal information requirements that were strung along over the course of 2 or 3 weeks as the loan was pending final approval. In addition, even after I had fulfilled all the requests for information from the underwriter, there was a lengthy and undue delay in final approval. I had to get personally involved on a number of occasions to push their office along in order to ensure that we met the contracted closing date. We did eventually get to the goal line, but only because of my prompting and prodding along the way.
Kyle and his team made the entire process extremely easy. If I didn't understand something they made sure to explain in detail what was happening next! I can't put it into words how thankful I am for them and I wouldn't choose any other lender.
I loved the entire experience. Everyone was professional, extremely helpful, and responsive. Sending documents was easy and very convenient. The whole team was awesome! The only thing I would do differently is choose my own realtor. That was the only part of the homebuying experience that felt a bit lackluster.Other than that, everything with Veterans United was truly A+!
Well where can I start!!! I have been working with Charlie M for about a year and a half. Me and my wife took time off from house shopping to really buckle down. The only one who made this process feel good from start to finish was Charlie! That’s why when it was time again we knew exactly who to contact! We are forever grateful. His team was excellent to from Mike helping me with credit to Chris checking in and Courtney helping me along the way it really was a great experience
Everyone I worked with made sure that all my questions were answered and that I felt at ease especially considering how big of a purchase buying a home is. I truly felt like they were holding my hand through every step of the way. What I expected to be a super stressful experience turned out to be one of the easiest, thanks to their support and guidance

Everything worked out well.
From start to finish, they made sure every I was dotted and ever T was crossed.
I was rushed and pushed through the whole process and being a new home buyer I was blinded and never coached on what anything meant. Being told many times to just sign or you wont close but yet no guidance why the rush and not a reason why but a quick paycheck. I never agreed to a 30 day extension after close and was very adamant about it. I overpaid for the house and the negotiations was made in the favor or the realtor not the buyer or seller. I will never use or recommend this company service to any of my service brothers period.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Jay,
I'm really sorry to hear how all of this played out. As a first-time homebuyer—especially someone trusting us with your VA loan—you should have felt supported, informed, and in control every step of the way. Instead, it sounds like you felt rushed, confused, and left without the guidance you needed. That’s incredibly frustrating, and it’s not the experience we want for anyone.
The pressure you described around signing documents and not understanding key parts of the process is especially concerning. Whether it's a 30-day extension or final numbers, you deserve clear explanations—not ultimatums. That’s something we take seriously, and I appreciate you calling it out.
I'd like to have our Client Advocate team take a closer look at what happened with your loan, including any concerns around how negotiations or communication were handled. If you’re open to talking, you can reach us at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. We’re available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST—but you're welcome to reach out anytime.
My team did a outstanding job throughout the processes finding me a nice home
Only problem was you sharing my information with the world, our emails are blowing up with lenders and realtors?
Matt and his team are always a pleasure to work with and recommend them to anyone who needs help qualify or buying.
They made the process so easy!
There was a couple of things that caught my attention but nothing that Derek and Megan didn't handle. I would recommend these two folks to anyone that is looking to purchase a home with Veterans United
The overall experience was painless and smooth.
It was a total mess didn't close on the actual day was giving the run around on stupid things on paperwork just to delay time because no body wanted to work that week because it was a 4 day for most since it was the 4th of July no one reached out to me or my husband who is battling cancer and had his treatment day prior leaving state of Texas driving a RV with 3 German Shepard dogs it it was a 2 day ride for him and get to Indiana and find out all the bull shit that was sent our way. I the wife had to leave out the following week. But since we didn't close until the following sewage had to leave next day and couldn't help me the husband. Very unprofessional all that was involved with our VA loan. The paper work had to be amended at least 3 times
Response from Veterans United
Hey Robert,
Reading this honestly breaks my heart. I'm so sorry for everything you and your husband went through—not just with the loan process, but having to manage it all while traveling across states, in an RV, with three dogs, and while your husband is battling cancer. That’s a lot for anyone to carry, and the last thing you needed was added stress from us.
It’s clear the delays and lack of communication made an already difficult time even harder. I hate that it left you feeling like you were being strung along or that no one was stepping up to help—especially around a major holiday when folks were out of office. That's not how we aim to support our Veterans or their families.
I'd really appreciate the chance to look into this further with you. If you're open to it, our Client Advocate team is here to listen and help however we can. You can reach us at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. We’re in the office Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, but feel free to reach out anytime.
