My experience was frustrating due to poor communication and lack of follow-through. I requested phone calls that never came, and the process felt reactive instead of proactive. I had to chase down paperwork and push things forward myself—unacceptable when trying to
Response from Veterans United
Hi Bernie,
I really appreciate you sharing this feedback, and I’m sorry your experience left you feeling like you had to do all the chasing. That’s not how this should feel—especially during something as important and stressful as buying a home.
You’re right to expect proactive communication and consistent follow-through, and I’m sorry we didn’t deliver on that. I'd love a chance for my team to learn more about what happened and see how we can do better. If you're up for it, please reach out to my team directly at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. We're in the office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST Monday through Friday, but feel free to reach out anytime that’s convenient for you.

We couldn’t be happier with everything.

Josh is amazing. Best help I've ever had with my loan and he helped me with every question I had along the way.

As a former combat veteran that served in the US Marines, I always try to do all the right things. I put my son and daughter through college and unfortunately between college debt, a personal loan and credit cards I was becoming overwhelmed with debt and found myself in a situation which wasn't going to get better. Making minimum payments on several credit cards and with other loans and debts I was never going to pay off my debts. I reach out to Veterans United to inquire about equity in my home to finance with a consolidation to focus my payments solely on my mortgage than paying more than 8 or more creditors. Filing for bankruptcy for me is not an option, I consider that failure. I was on a mission with the refuse to lose mentality and thinking of different avenues of approach to the situation. I couldn't sit back and have things fall apart. I was assigned Drew Tillman. I was very transparent explaining my situation. I told him I was never late on any payments, but my credit cards were over 30% balance and some where almost maxed. I told him I am watching my credit score decrease the more I wait. Drew told me my credit score was actually higher than what was listed on Credit Karma, my appraisal on my home will determine what options I have. Everything worked out better than what I expected. I was able to pay off everything, lower my interest rate, reduced my monthly debt and free up over 1k per month and prevent my credit score from receiving more damage. Drew was great and kept me positive assuring me things will work out. The underwriter in the final stages, I think her name is Melissa Quinones kept me informed every step of the way. I am very pleased with how everything worked out. The only downside was adding years to the life of the loan. This isn't really an issue, now I could focus on making extra payments on the mortgage and the years will begin to reduce in the long run.

Curtis and Anthony as a team are the best, first time home buyer and they had answers for everything on the spot. Highly recommend both of them!
