The underwriter was the real issue here. They kept moving the goal posts so to speak when we had an excellent profile for receiving a loan. They would not accept my letter of intent for military orders and kept increasing my cash to close value for no apparent reason. I would definitely not recommend this company to anyone I know because of how difficult this underwriter made things. They also had very unrealistic expectations on how long it takes to do things in the home buying process. We had to extend our closing twice because they did not realize that approvals and forms do not happen instantly. Overall, I was super hopeful at first being a 1st time home buyer, but by the end I was super disappointed and wish I had gone with a different lender. As a company with Veteran's in their name, they really do not understand what being in the military is like and what can and cannot be done.

As someone who thoroughly researches everything, I was skeptical as first of how highly people spoke of veterans United loans. I also read a lot of bad reviews as well written by some. I can honestly say all of the positive remarks was my exact experience with Veterans United. I couldn’t have asked for a better loan team to guide me as a first time home buyer. Thinking back on bad reviews from others, I can honestly say it was probably due to their lack of understanding of obtaining a mortgage loan. The process was actual quite simple as long as you fulfill your obligations in producing the right paperwork .
